About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential aerospace organization at the forefront of space situational awareness and orbital safety solutions. Our client is seeking a Senior Satellite Systems Engineer to join their technical team in Brunswick, Germany. This role offers the opportunity to work on advanced collision avoidance systems and mission design tools that support sustainable space operations.

Responsibilities

  • Review and coordinate Product Assurance & Safety Plans (PASP) and Product Assurance Requirements Documents (PARD)
  • Perform end-to-end mission designs customized to client specifications
  • Assess mission requirements and architect tailored solutions for satellite operators
  • Identify client needs and develop innovative approaches to orbital risk mitigation
  • Contribute to mission design software development from concept through deployment
  • Review hardware designs at both system and subsystem levels
  • Support launch preparation activities, environmental test campaign planning, and pre-launch readiness reviews
  • Calculate and maintain system budgets including link, power, and data budgets with margin tracking throughout development lifecycle

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

  • M.Sc. or higher degree in Aerospace/Space Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or related technical discipline
  • 5+ years of satellite systems engineering experience with system-level engineering accountability across spacecraft development phases: development, integration, verification, qualification, and launch preparation
  • 2+ years working within ECSS-compliant development programs, including technical documentation, formal reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, QR, AR), and certification processes
  • Demonstrated contribution to at least one satellite mission that achieved operational status
  • Growth mindset with commitment to continuous learning and professional development
  • Willingness to travel and participate in intensive review campaigns
  • English proficiency at C1 level or higher
  • Valid EU work authorization

Preferred qualifications:

  • Knowledge of ECSS product assurance methodologies (FMEA/FMECA, fault tree analysis, critical items lists, RAMS, ECSS-Q-ST-80C)
  • Background in Earth observation missions
  • Experience with synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imaging systems
