Founding Backend Engineer(Go)

About This Opportunity

Our talent team at Get A Job.ai is representing a well-funded cybersecurity startup in Berlin seeking a Founding Backend Engineer specializing in Go. This is a rare opportunity to join at the ground floor as a founding team member, building critical infrastructure from scratch in the identity security and AI governance space. You'll work directly with technical leadership and have significant equity upside as you shape the platform's architecture and engineering culture.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain backend applications using Go, building the platform from the ground up
• Design and optimize cloud-based solutions using AWS services including EC2, Lambda, S3, SQS, and SNS
• Architect and manage databases across PostgreSQL, Neo4J, Redis, and Elasticsearch
• Develop, manage, and optimize containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes
• Build and maintain RESTful and gRPC APIs with strong focus on security and performance
• Implement caching, messaging queues, and event-driven architectures
• Collaborate closely with frontend engineers, DevOps, and product teams to deliver robust applications
• Monitor, debug, and continuously improve backend performance, reliability, and scalability
• Contribute to security architecture across identity systems, AI agents, and access enforcement
• Automate processes using Bash and Python scripting

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• 5+ years of professional GoLang experience with hands-on coding mentality
• Proven ability to build systems from scratch and familiarity with different architectural patterns
• Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes (EKS) for containerized workloads
• Experience designing RESTful and gRPC APIs using frameworks like Gin
• Practical experience with messaging systems such as SQS or Kafka
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions or similar tools
• Strong background operating PostgreSQL (RDS/Aurora) and Neo4J or similar graph databases
• Experience with AI agents, LLM-based systems, MCP, RAG, prompts, embeddings, and vector databases
• Familiarity with AI stack components like AWS Bedrock, LangChain, or pgvector
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform
• Knowledge of monitoring, logging, and observability tools including Grafana, OpenTelemetry, and Prometheus
• Ability to troubleshoot production issues end-to-end
• Experience with coding assistants such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or similar
• Background supporting production SaaS platforms
• Strong understanding of SaaS integrations and app-to-app permission flows
• High ownership mentality with startup mindset and ability to move quickly
• Previous experience in startup or scale-up environments
• Low ego, high commitment, and collaborative problem-solving approach
• Excellent English communication skills

Nice-to-have qualifications:

• Experience working with Java and ability to code in Python
• Background in security architecture, identity security, or security engineering
• Familiarity with compliance frameworks such as NIS2, DORA, ISO 27001, or SOC 2
• Deep AWS production environment experience
• Exposure to graph-based modeling for identity, access, or risk
• Understanding of OAuth/OIDC, API tokens, IdP, scopes, SSO, SCIM, roles, and RBAC/ABAC
• Familiarity with cloud identity and security controls like IAM, CloudTrail, or Azure Active Directory
• Hands-on experience with SIEM platforms such as Splunk, Microsoft Sentinel, or IBM QRadar
• Experience designing permission models, identity graphs, or access control frameworks
• Knowledge of tokenization, Zero Trust principles, least privilege, and continuous verification
• Understanding of security considerations for AI/LLM systems and agent logic
• Familiarity with AI agent behavior, LLM security, or agent sandboxing
• Previous experience in cybersecurity or identity-focused startups
• German language skills
