Applied AI Engineer, AI for Mistral

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential AI technology organization seeking an Applied AI Engineer to join their Paris-based team. Our client is building cutting-edge AI solutions across high-stakes sectors including finance, manufacturing, defense, and healthcare. This role sits at the intersection of product, engineering, and business—turning advanced AI technology into production systems that drive measurable impact.

As an Applied AI Engineer, you'll own the end-to-end delivery of AI-powered solutions for internal departments. You'll work across GTM, HR, Engineering, Finance, and other business units, translating complex requirements into production-grade systems. This is a high-velocity role for builders who ship fast without compromising quality.

Responsibilities

• Lead discovery sessions with department heads to map workflows and build a prioritized use-case backlog with clear business value
• Design and ship production-grade full-stack applications using Python/FastAPI and React, from scoping through deployment and adoption
• Build AI systems including RAG pipelines, agents, workflows, and orchestration frameworks that solve real business problems
• Implement business rules, KPIs, and ROI metrics as durable data assets with observable, trustworthy outputs
• Own architecture decisions for your domain, maintaining scalability, security, and code quality standards
• Identify patterns across departments and abstract one-off solutions into reusable components and platforms
• Provide technical feedback on product development based on real-world usage and edge cases

What We're Looking For

• At least 3 years of experience building and deploying production AI software systems
• Strong full-stack engineering skills: Python/TypeScript, scalable backends (FastAPI/Node), and frontend development (React/Vue)
• Hands-on experience with modern GenAI use cases including RAG, agents, workflows, orchestration, and evaluation frameworks
• Proficiency with AI-assisted development tools combined with a commitment to clean code and solid architecture
• Strong ownership mentality and bias toward shipping—you thrive in high-velocity environments
• Fluent English with excellent communication skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Customer-focused mindset, treating internal teams as valued customers
• Familiarity with modern collaboration tools and agile workflows

Nice to have:

• Experience in Legal, Public Affairs, Marketing, or Infrastructure domains, or ability to rapidly gain domain fluency
• Data engineering or analytics background (warehouse modeling, dbt, dashboards)
• Open-source contributions, particularly around LLM tooling
• Track record of building internal platforms and reusable tooling
