Distinguished Engineer, Agentic SDLC & Non‑Linear Productivity

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential DevSecOps platform company seeking a Distinguished Engineer to pioneer autonomous, agentic SDLC capabilities. This is a senior technical leadership role where you will define and scale AI-driven engineering workflows that deliver measurable productivity gains.

In this position, you will:

• Define and refine a company-wide technical vision for autonomous agentic workflows across the software development lifecycle
• Identify non-linear productivity opportunities targeting 10x improvements rather than incremental gains across planning, coding, review, security, compliance, and operations
• Lead hands-on experiments and prototypes to validate agentic workflows for autonomous merge request authoring, test creation, security remediation, release readiness, and incident response
• Design reference architectures including orchestration patterns, safety guardrails, observability, and human-in-the-loop controls
• Define evaluation frameworks using offline benchmarks and online experiments to measure correctness, latency, safety, cost, and productivity impact
• Drive high-impact internal use cases from concept through adoption to measurable productivity gains
• Work directly with engineering teams to embed trusted, observable, and resilient agentic workflows into day-to-day development
• Track core productivity metrics such as cycle time, MTTR, and throughput, linking agentic interventions to business outcomes
• Capture reusable patterns, libraries, and playbooks for organization-wide adoption
• Partner with product management to convert proven internal patterns into customer-facing capabilities
• Ensure designs respect multi-tenant, compliance, and data governance requirements
• Serve as escalation point for complex architectural decisions related to agentic workflows and AI safety
• Mentor Principal and Staff Engineers, raising the bar for technical execution and experimentation rigor
• Write clear design documents and architecture narratives that enable aligned decision-making
• Represent the organization externally at conferences and standards groups on AI-assisted development topics

What We're Looking For

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, including 4+ years in Staff, Principal, or equivalent senior technical leadership roles
• Deep expertise in AI and ML systems, including large language models, agentic frameworks, and autonomous workflow design at production scale
• Proven track record leading hands-on technical experimentation, defining evaluation frameworks, running benchmarks, and translating findings into scalable architecture decisions
• Strong background in scalable, multi-tenant distributed systems including service decomposition, fault tolerance, observability, and operational resilience
• Experience designing human-in-the-loop controls, safety guardrails, and responsible AI practices for production systems
• Demonstrated ability to drive cross-functional alignment across Engineering, Product, Infrastructure, and Data/ML teams on complex, ambiguous technical challenges
• Experience mentoring senior engineers and influencing technical direction across multiple teams without direct authority
• Ability to work effectively in a fully remote, globally distributed organization with excellent written and asynchronous communication skills
• Familiarity with DevSecOps platforms, CI/CD primitives, and the software development lifecycle is a strong advantage
