Business Automation Engineer

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential SaaS client in their search for a Business Automation Engineer based in Birmingham. This role sits within the Customer Care Service Design function and focuses on transforming manual processes into scalable, automated solutions that drive operational efficiency.

Our client operates globally with significant scale and seeks someone who can bridge operational challenges with technical automation solutions using modern workflow platforms, data tools, and AI-enabled technologies.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and deploy automation solutions that eliminate manual work and improve operational efficiency across Customer Care teams
• Maintain and enhance existing automations, integrations, and workflows to ensure reliability and scalability
• Troubleshoot issues and provide ongoing support for deployed automation solutions
• Partner with stakeholders across Customer Care, Product, Engineering, and other business functions to understand pain points and process gaps
• Convert business requirements into clear automation designs and implementation plans
• Build solutions using enterprise platforms including Make.com, Airtable, AWS, Zendesk, and approved AI technologies
• Explore opportunities to incorporate AI capabilities and intelligent automation where they deliver measurable operational outcomes
• Contribute technical expertise to roadmap projects and cross-functional initiatives
• Ensure solutions are documented, maintainable, and scalable for long-term organizational use
• Proactively identify operational inefficiencies and address them through automation

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience building workflow automation solutions that reduce manual effort and improve operational consistency
• Strong technical skills with automation platforms such as Make.com, Airtable, or similar workflow orchestration tools
• Experience with cloud technologies, particularly AWS
• Familiarity with customer support platforms like Zendesk or similar ticketing systems
• Ability to translate operational challenges into practical automation opportunities
• Understanding of AI-enabled automation and how to evaluate AI capabilities for business value
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with a focus on reliability and maintainability
• Excellent stakeholder collaboration skills and the ability to work across functions
• Demonstrated ability to balance speed, simplicity, and long-term scalability in solution design
• Experience supporting both day-to-day tooling stability and delivering strategic roadmap initiatives
• Must be based within commuting distance of Birmingham for in-office collaboration
