Senior Legal Operations Manager

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential fintech client in their search for a Senior Legal Operations Manager based in London. This is a foundational hire—our client's first dedicated legal operations professional—offering the rare opportunity to build and shape how a high-growth in-house legal team operates at scale.

You will own the operational backbone of the legal function: contract lifecycle management platforms, commercial playbooks, knowledge systems, legal intake processes, KPI reporting, and outside counsel governance. You will also serve as a strategic partner and project manager to the General Counsel, coordinating cross-functional initiatives and ensuring nothing falls through the cracks on a lean, fast-moving team.

This role reports to the General Counsel and collaborates with legal colleagues across London and New York. The position is London-based with an expectation of three days per week in the office.

Responsibilities

Your priorities will evolve as the function matures, but initial focus areas include:

• Design and refine legal intake processes to serve as the "front door" for requests across the business
• Partner with Sales, Finance, InfoSec, and Procurement to streamline deal-desk and approval workflows
• Build and maintain an external legal spend tracker from the ground up, including matter categorisation, invoice logging, and monthly reporting
• Own KPI dashboards and expand reporting coverage into intake volumes, spend analysis, cycle times, and other operational metrics
• Manage the enterprise contract lifecycle management platform end-to-end, including workflow hygiene, metadata cleanup, approvals configuration, and user training rollout
• Develop and maintain templates, playbooks, and self-serve resources to enable the business to move quickly
• Coordinate cross-functional legal projects such as M&A diligence, trademark portfolio management, or regulatory readiness workstreams
• Provide executive-level reporting and business review support in partnership with the General Counsel
• Consolidate knowledge management across disparate systems into a clean, accessible structure
• Support company secretarial administration as the function scales

What We're Looking For

Essential qualifications:

• At least five years of hands-on experience running legal operations, contracts operations, legal project management, or a closely related function such as compliance operations or legal chief-of-staff
• Deep, practical experience with Ironclad or a directly comparable enterprise CLM platform (e.g., Juro, LinkSquares, Icertis, Agiloft, Leah)
• Proven track record of end-to-end project ownership, including timeline management, risk assessment, stakeholder coordination, and outcome delivery
• Strong reporting and data fluency: ability to build dashboards, work within KPI frameworks, and translate metrics into actionable insights
• Highly organised with a systems mindset—you design workflows for repeatability and notice when processes begin to wobble
• Commercial instincts and action bias: you understand what the business needs from legal and move initiatives forward without waiting to be asked twice
• Comfortable operating in ambiguity as the first dedicated hire building the playbook from scratch

Preferred experience:

• Background in a scale-up or fast-paced in-house legal environment where you can demonstrate ownership and impact
• Experience setting up legal spend tracking, outside counsel panel management, or legal project management frameworks
• Prior role as a team's first or only legal operations hire, or as part of a small team during the early build-out phase of a legal ops function
• You do not need to be a qualified lawyer, but you must have run legal operations end-to-end before
