Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential construction-technology organization based in Berlin that is building the future of sustainable residential development. Our client's Data Platform team is responsible for their internal data infrastructure, working across digital planning, automation, sustainability analytics, AI, IoT, and operational domains to solve complex challenges in the building lifecycle—from design through construction to operations.

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will:

  • Design, build, and maintain core data platform components including ingestion frameworks, transformation pipelines, and data storage layers
  • Own and improve data reliability through monitoring, alerting, SLAs, and data quality checks
  • Collaborate with domain experts and software engineers to understand data needs and deliver high-quality datasets
  • Lead strategic initiatives to modernize or scale the data ecosystem, including query optimization, schema design, and analytics capabilities
  • Mentor and guide team members to elevate engineering rigor and technical capability across the organization

What We're Looking For

Required technical experience with a stack similar to:

  • Programming languages: Python or Kotlin
  • Databases: Postgres, BigQuery, Spark, Graph databases
  • Tools: Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, Dagster, DBT
  • Cloud storage platforms

Core competencies:

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to break down complex tasks, work with stakeholders, adapt to dynamic input, and lead implementation projects
  • Experience identifying and resolving data discrepancies and inconsistencies, plus creating validation and testing frameworks for prevention and handling
  • Proven experience building, operating, and scaling data-intensive reactive processing pipelines end-to-end, including ingestion, storage, orchestration, transformation, enrichment, and analytics

Bonus experience (optional but valued):

  • Knowledge of semantic web technologies like RDF and OWL
  • Experience with ontology engineering and knowledge engineering, including tools such as Protege
  • Experience working with construction industry data or other complex, large-scale datasets
  • Background in data science, machine learning, or AI agents
