Software QA Engineer II

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential technology organization seeking a Software QA Engineer II in Kassel, Hesse. In this role, you will own the test strategy and independent verification approach for RF sensor capabilities, ensuring systems are trustworthy both in laboratory and field environments.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Owning the test strategy and independent verification approach for RF sensor software from design through release, including regression, integration, and real-world validation
• Designing and implementing test strategies spanning feature, regression, integration, system, and field validation, combining automated coverage with targeted manual testing
• Developing in-depth functional tests for individual components of RF sensor software and maintaining those tests as the product evolves
• Reproducing, isolating, and characterizing issues on real sensor hardware and in test environments with clear documentation
• Building and maintaining hardware-backed automated regression tests and supporting test tooling
• Monitoring and improving development and test systems to ensure stable, observable environments for daily use
• Partnering with RF Engineering to independently verify behavior in realistic environments and across system interfaces
• Executing system, release, field, and acceptance testing with release stakeholders
• Documenting test results and defects clearly, contributing to software design reviews and after-action reviews
• Sharing knowledge with the wider team and supporting newer engineers through pairing, reviews, and onboarding

What We're Looking For

Our client requires candidates with the following qualifications:

• A degree or vocational qualification in electrical engineering, computer science, embedded systems, or a related field
• 3+ years of experience testing software that runs on or with hardware (embedded products, devices, sensors, or similar systems), including independently owning the test and quality approach
• Experience with RF, embedded, sensor, or similarly hardware-integrated systems, with technical aptitude to develop deep expertise in RF sensor technologies
• Hands-on experience building and maintaining automated tests or test tooling, ideally in Python pytest, with the ability to independently support hardware-backed regression testing
• Comfort working in Linux-based systems (SSH, Networking)
• A collaborative, quality-focused working style with the ability to speak up when something is unclear or broken
• Experience with drones or hardware-in-the-loop / continuous integration test setups is a plus
• Interest in mentoring and supporting others as they grow

Work Location: This is a hybrid position based in Kassel, Germany. The role requires onsite work Tuesday through Friday, with the flexibility to work remotely on Mondays.
