About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential healthcare organization in their search for an experienced Medical Billing Specialist focused on AR and Collections. This is a remote position based in the Philippines with a night shift schedule to align with US business hours. Our talent team is seeking professionals with deep expertise in medical billing, denial management, and collections processes.

Responsibilities

  • Follow up on submitted invoices to ensure prompt and timely payment, escalating issues as necessary
  • Evaluate payments and denials received for correctness and ensure proper application
  • Identify bad debt write-offs and A/R adjustments, initiating them in accordance with established policies
  • Detect overpayments and duplicate payments; investigate and resolve accordingly
  • Process refund requests in accordance with policies and procedures
  • Maintain contact with other departments to obtain patient or insurance information needed for claim payment
  • Make calls to troubleshoot payment discrepancies and establish resolution
  • Document phone calls, phone numbers, persons spoken to, and call details on a consistent basis
  • Resolve issues that caused a denial within 5 days of receipt of denial
  • Maintain strictest confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA guidelines and regulations
  • Consistently look for areas to maximize claim reimbursement
  • Share knowledge gained with other staff members and work as a team member
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned

What We're Looking For

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) equivalent
  • At least 3 years of medical billing and collections experience
  • Home Infusion experience, hospital, or chemotherapy experience is required
  • Experience in calculating drug units; Intrathecal Pain Management experience is a plus
  • Understanding of NDC (National Drug Code) numbers, metric quantities, and knowledge of infusion supplies
  • Broad knowledge of insurance plans, medical terminology, billing procedures, government regulations, and medical codes
  • Ability to recognize, evaluate, and exercise good judgment in solving complex situations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and relationship building skills
  • Strong work ethic with personal qualities of integrity and credibility
  • Self-directed, detail-oriented, conscientious, organized, and able to follow through
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Ability to work Monday to Friday, 9 PM to 6 AM Manila Time
