Senior Financial Analyst, Cost Accounting

Our talent team is representing a confidential healthcare organization in their search for a Senior Financial Analyst focused on cost accounting. This is a remote opportunity based in the United States, ideal for a finance professional who wants to architect scalable systems and drive profitability insights in a growth-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

• Direct cost accounting policies, controls, and reporting to support financial and growth objectives
• Design and scale the cost accounting framework, including expense allocation methodologies across business segments and legal entities
• Deliver market and product-level profitability analysis to guide leadership on margin optimization
• Support the financial mechanics of intercompany arrangements, including cost allocation, transfer pricing inputs, and internal reporting
• Build and maintain driver-based financial models that connect membership growth, staffing decisions, and vendor spend to P&L and cash
• Support or own aspects of the monthly close related to cost, including accruals, allocations, variance analysis, and management reporting packages
• Build business cases and ROI analyses for vendor decisions, build-versus-buy evaluations, market expansion, and headcount investments
• Participate in cross-functional teams focused on continuous improvement and standardization, with emphasis on technology development and scalable reporting tools
• Support operational teams with education, tools, analysis, and reporting to enable cost performance management
• Own responsibility for satisfying applicable audit, examination, and regulatory or compliance-related requests

What We're Looking For

Required:

• Minimum 5–10 years of finance and/or accounting experience
• Demonstrated hands-on cost accounting experience including allocation methodology, cost center design, unit cost or product-level costing
• Core FP&A or accounting experience: cost accounting, budgeting, forecasting, long-range planning, variance analysis, and management reporting
• Advanced financial modeling skills, including comfort working with large and imperfect data sets, AI, and/or BI platforms
• Deep understanding of ERP or planning systems, or experience standing up a cost allocation model from scratch
• Ability to explain financial results clearly to non-finance stakeholders and challenge assumptions respectfully
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment where priorities shift and process is something you help build

Preferred:

• Healthcare services and/or health insurance experience
• Undergraduate and/or graduate degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field
