Key Responsibilities
- Deliver targeted reading instruction to elementary-level students who are below grade-level in reading proficiency
- Assess student reading levels and progress using formative and summative assessments
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to align tutoring with core curriculum and school goals
- Create individualized lesson plans and select appropriate instructional materials for each student
- Monitor and document student progress, adjusting instruction based on performance data
- Communicate regularly with teachers, administrators, and families about student growth and learning needs
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Strong foundational knowledge of reading instruction, phonics, fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary development
- Ability to work effectively with elementary-age children and support students with diverse learning needs
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to educational equity and serving students from under-resourced communities
- Ability to work full-time on-site at an elementary school in Washington, D.C.
