Night Shift Registered Nurse

What This Role Involves

As a Night Shift Registered Nurse at Shannon Rehabilitation Hospital, you'll provide high-quality care to patients recovering from illness, injury, or surgery. You'll be a key member of the evening and overnight nursing team, delivering individualized patient care grounded in clinical expertise and compassionate attention. Your role bridges the critical overnight hours when responsive nursing leadership helps patients maintain comfort, manage post-acute recovery needs, and progress toward their rehabilitation goals.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Monitor patient vital signs, health status, and clinical progress throughout night shifts
• Administer medications and manage medication schedules per physician orders
• Perform wound care, dressing changes, and hygiene assistance with dignity and attentiveness
• Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes in medical records
• Respond to patient requests and concerns with professionalism and empathy
• Communicate updates to day-shift staff and interdisciplinary care teams
• Assist patients with mobility, positioning, and activities of daily living
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized patient environment

Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Texas
• Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Ability to work overnight shifts and maintain consistent availability
• Strong clinical assessment and communication skills
• Experience in acute care, post-acute care, or rehabilitation nursing preferred
• Commitment to patient-centered care and professional integrity
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team
