About the Role

As a Senior Litigation Counsel with the Arizona Attorney General's Office, you will serve as a trusted legal advisor and courtroom advocate on complex civil and administrative matters affecting state interests. This role combines strategic legal analysis, policy guidance, and courtroom litigation—offering substantial exposure to high-stakes cases across multiple practice areas. Based in Phoenix at our Maricopa County office, you will work alongside experienced attorneys in a collegial environment dedicated to public service and legal excellence.

Core Duties

• Draft, review, and argue briefs and legal memoranda in state and federal court proceedings
• Represent the State of Arizona in civil litigation and administrative hearings
• Conduct legal research, analysis, and case strategy development
• Collaborate with other state agencies and legal teams on multi-jurisdictional matters
• Provide legal counsel on regulatory compliance, constitutional issues, and litigation risk
• Manage case dockets, evidence, and client communications

What We're Looking For

• Active membership in the Arizona State Bar (or license to practice in another US jurisdiction with reciprocity available)
• Substantial litigation, trial, or government counsel experience
• Strong written and oral advocacy skills, with demonstrated courtroom presence
• Ability to manage complex files, prioritize competing demands, and meet strict filing deadlines
• Sound judgment, ethical commitment, and ability to represent government interests with integrity
• Proficiency with legal research platforms and case management systems
