Zócalo Health, a Latino-founded healthcare technology company, is hiring a Seasonal Community Engagement Specialist to join our Amador County team through December 2026. This is a full-time, hybrid position for someone passionate about connecting underserved communities with culturally competent care and health services.
Role Overview
The Community Engagement Specialist role sits at the heart of Zócalo Health's model: bringing healthcare directly to the communities we serve. You'll lead efforts to identify and reach eligible members, facilitate their onboarding into our care programs, and maintain strong partnerships with local organizations and stakeholders. Based in Amador County with hybrid flexibility, you'll combine in-person community presence with administrative coordination to ensure no one navigates healthcare alone.
Your Responsibilities
- Conduct direct outreach to potential members using health plan eligibility data and community referrals.
- Schedule intake appointments and guide members through enrollment paperwork and form requirements.
- Maintain accurate documentation of all outreach activities and patient conversions within electronic health record systems (Athena).
- Represent Zócalo Health at community coalition meetings, local events, and collaborative gatherings.
- Execute patient recruitment campaigns, including mailers and follow-up outreach to event attendees.
- Build and nurture relationships with community organizations, collaboratives, and local health partners.
- Support operations across an early-stage, high-growth healthcare startup with additional tasks as needed.
Skills & Qualifications
- One to three years of professional experience in healthcare delivery, community health programs, or social services.
- Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish, with ability to communicate effectively across diverse populations.
- Proven track record engaging respectfully with people from different backgrounds and cultures.
- Strong organizational and detail-oriented mindset; comfort managing multiple outreach channels and documentation systems.
- Familiarity with electronic health records platforms or similar technology-driven workflows.
- Reliable personal transportation to attend in-person events and conduct field outreach throughout Amador County.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and community event schedules as needed.
- Authorization to work lawfully in the United States.
Why Join Zócalo Health
Zócalo Health was founded in 2021 on a simple truth: Latino communities deserve healthcare designed by and for their lived experience, not retrofitted around existing systems. We've built a healthcare model that honors cultural values, eliminates language barriers, brings clinicians into homes and neighborhoods, and treats members as partners in their own care. You'll join a team backed by leading healthcare investors, collaborate across primary care and behavioral health, and work alongside community health workers who deeply understand the neighborhoods they serve. We offer comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage; a generous home office stipend; competitive hourly pay ($26–$28/hr) plus a $1,000 sign-on bonus; and a genuine PTO policy with six paid holidays annually.
