Breakthrough is hiring a Youth Development Coach to join our team in Chicago, Cook County. This is a part-time position supporting young people through our out-of-school programming at our FamilyPlex location in East Garfield Park.
About the Role
As a Youth Development Coach with Breakthrough, you'll be at the heart of our Youth Network, delivering mentorship and skill-building to students in our community. Reporting to the Youth Education Director, you'll work flexible hours aligned with our after-school program schedule, creating meaningful learning experiences that help youth develop academically, socially, and personally.
What You'll Do
- Facilitate interactive workshops and group sessions that build leadership, critical thinking, and life skills
- Mentor individual students, offering one-on-one support and guidance aligned with their academic and personal goals
- Create a welcoming, inclusive environment where young people feel heard, respected, and motivated to succeed
- Track participant progress and collaborate with the Youth Education Director to adjust programming based on student needs
- Build strong connections with students' families and community partners to support holistic youth development
What We're Looking For
- Genuine passion for working with young people and commitment to their growth
- Strong communication skills and ability to inspire, motivate, and listen actively
- Experience in youth mentoring, education, coaching, or a related field (or willingness to develop these skills)
- Ability to remain patient, flexible, and culturally responsive in a diverse community setting
- Reliable attendance and comfort with a flexible schedule tied to after-school programming
