Business Development Representative

PeopleReady is seeking a Business Development Representative in Birmingham, Jefferson County for a full-time sales position. In this role, you'll drive new customer acquisition and grow revenue within existing accounts, reporting directly to the Area Sales Manager. This is an opportunity for a sales-driven professional to build meaningful business relationships, identify market opportunities, and make a measurable impact on growth.

What You'll Do

• Prospect and qualify potential customers throughout Birmingham and surrounding areas, converting market opportunities into closed business
• Build and maintain strong, lasting relationships with new and existing clients by understanding their business needs and positioning relevant solutions
• Expand revenue within established accounts by systematically identifying upsell opportunities and cross-sell possibilities
• Lead discovery conversations to understand customer pain points, then develop tailored proposals and presentations that address their specific needs
• Maintain a disciplined pipeline, manage sales activities consistently, and hit or exceed quarterly revenue targets
• Partner with the Area Sales Manager and sales team to refine territory strategy, share market insights, and drive continuous improvement

What We're Looking For

• Demonstrated success in outside sales, business development, or customer acquisition roles—showing proven ability to close deals and drive revenue growth
• Proactive, self-directed professional who identifies opportunities and takes ownership without requiring constant direction
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills with natural ability to build trust and rapport quickly with prospects, clients, and team members
• Mental resilience and strong coachability: comfortable with sales rejection, committed to continuous learning, and responsive to constructive feedback
• Disciplined, goal-focused mindset with strong organizational skills and ability to track pipeline, activities, and metrics
• Background in sales or business development is valued; industry-specific experience is a plus but not required
