University of Arkansas is seeking a skilled painter to join our facilities and maintenance team in a full-time Skilled Tradesman-Painter position. This role offers the opportunity to maintain and enhance the physical appearance of our campus infrastructure through professional painting services.
About the Role
As a Skilled Tradesman-Painter at University of Arkansas, you'll play a vital role in maintaining our campus facilities. Your expertise in surface preparation, paint application, and finishing techniques will ensure our buildings and structures remain in pristine condition while meeting our high standards for quality and durability.
What You'll Do
- Prepare surfaces for painting by sanding, cleaning, scraping, and patching walls, ceilings, trim, and exterior surfaces
- Apply primers, paints, stains, and protective coatings using brushes, rollers, spray equipment, and other professional tools
- Select appropriate paint types and finishes based on surface materials and project specifications
- Inspect completed work to ensure quality standards and make touch-ups as needed
- Maintain painting equipment and tools in safe, working condition
- Follow all safety protocols, including proper use of ladders, scaffolding, and personal protective equipment
- Collaborate with maintenance team members and respond to facility needs across campus
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Proven experience as a painter or in a skilled trades painting role
- Strong knowledge of paint types, application methods, and surface preparation techniques
- Ability to safely work at heights and on ladders or scaffolding
- Physical stamina and manual dexterity for extended standing, climbing, and detailed work
- Attention to detail and commitment to delivering quality finishes
- Reliability and strong work ethic
