Join Merck as an Associate Director of US Oncology Portfolio Patient Support Strategy, based in North Wales, Montgomery County, and help shape how cancer patients access the breakthrough therapies that extend and improve their lives.
About the Role
This full-time position leads the development and execution of patient support strategies across our US oncology portfolio. You'll work at the intersection of clinical innovation, patient access, and payer relationships to remove barriers that prevent patients from receiving the care they need.
What You'll Do
- Design and oversee comprehensive patient support programs for oncology medications, ensuring accessibility and sustained treatment adherence
- Develop portfolio-level strategies that align patient support offerings with clinical value and real-world patient needs
- Partner with payers, healthcare providers, and government agencies to expand patient access and streamline coverage pathways
- Analyze patient journey data and program outcomes to identify gaps and opportunities for continuous improvement
- Lead cross-functional teams including medical, commercial, patient affairs, and operations to execute strategic initiatives
- Monitor market trends, competitive landscapes, and regulatory changes affecting patient access to oncology therapies
- Present findings, recommendations, and program results to senior leadership and external stakeholders
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree in healthcare administration, public health, business, or related field preferred
- 7+ years of experience in patient support programs, patient access, healthcare strategy, or related roles within pharmaceutical or healthcare
- Proven success managing complex programs and leading cross-functional teams in a regulated healthcare environment
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills with ability to translate data into actionable insights
- Knowledge of US payer systems, patient access barriers, and healthcare policy affecting oncology
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills—ability to influence and align teams with differing priorities
- Demonstrated commitment to patient-centric solutions and improving healthcare equity
- Experience with patient support platforms, data analytics tools, or healthcare business intelligence is a plus
