About the Role

As Transportation Consultant for Freight Pay & Audit, you'll oversee the complete lifecycle of freight invoice management and payment operations. This position bridges procurement, finance, and logistics to ensure every transportation dollar is accurately accounted for and strategically optimized. You'll work across both internal systems and third-party transportation management platforms, acting as a liaison between Cardinal Health's supply chain operations and carrier relationships.

What You'll Do

• Audit incoming freight invoices for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with contracted rates and service terms
• Investigate billing discrepancies, overcharges, and exception items; escalate findings and resolve disputes
• Process freight payments accurately and on schedule using established systems and workflows
• Analyze transportation spend data to identify cost reduction opportunities and operational efficiencies
• Reconcile freight charges against shipment records, contracts, and historical benchmarks
• Collaborate with carriers, warehouse operations, and procurement to address billing or service issues
• Maintain detailed records and generate reporting on audit findings, payment volumes, and cost performance
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to streamline freight payment processes and enhance controls

What We're Looking For

• High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework or prior professional experience preferred
• Demonstrated ability to manage detailed, transaction-level data with strong attention to accuracy
• Proficiency with spreadsheets, databases, and business software; transportation management systems a plus
• Solid understanding of freight and logistics concepts, including carrier types, incoterms, and rate structures
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively across departments and external partners
• Analytical mindset with ability to spot patterns, identify discrepancies, and solve problems independently
• Organizational skills and ability to manage multiple invoices and priorities within established deadlines
