OC – Safety Support Associate [SWING SHIFT] (JR 5646)

PATH (People Assisting the Homeless) is hiring a Safety Support Associate [SWING SHIFT] (JR 5646) in Santa Ana, Orange County to join our team at the Yale Navigation Center. This full-time position offers hourly compensation ranging from $21.71 to $26.36 per hour based on your experience, with pay distributed across 24 periods annually.

About the Role

As a Safety Support Associate, you'll be central to creating and maintaining a secure, welcoming environment across our interim housing facility. You'll work swing shifts to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all guests, staff, and visitors while fostering meaningful connections with the individuals we serve.

What You'll Do

• Maintain presence throughout the interim housing site, building trust and rapport with guests experiencing homelessness
• Support facility safety through attentive observation, verbal de-escalation, and continuous engagement with program participants
• Collaborate with case management staff and contracted security partners to sustain safe, secure onsite conditions
• Operate and monitor security systems; conduct regular facility rounds and promptly document any issues or anomalies
• Prepare written reports and correspondence for leadership regarding safety and security matters
• Respond to urgent situations and crises by applying nonviolent crisis intervention and verbal de-escalation techniques alongside your team

• Genuine empathy and patience when working with individuals facing complex health, functional, and social challenges
• Comfort working both independently and collaboratively within a team structure
• Sound judgment, strong self-motivation, and proactive approach to problem-solving
• Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, high-demand environment
• Respect for confidentiality and HIPAA compliance
• One year of experience working with vulnerable populations, in security, or in de-escalation and nonviolent crisis intervention (preferred)
• Valid driver's license and willingness to drive as required for the role
• Ability to obtain or willingness to complete CPR and First Aid certification
