About the Role

As Host at our Salem, Washington County location, you'll manage the front-of-house experience and create a positive first impression for every visitor. This full-time position plays a central role in restaurant operations, working directly with servers, bartenders, and kitchen staff to maintain smooth service flow. Your energy and attention to detail directly influence how guests perceive Tumbleweed and whether they'll return.

What You'll Do

• Greet all guests warmly upon arrival and manage the seating process efficiently
• Maintain an accurate waitlist and communicate wait times to guests
• Answer incoming calls, take reservations, and respond to inquiries about our restaurant
• Coordinate with servers and kitchen staff to optimize table turnover and guest satisfaction
• Monitor dining room conditions, reset tables, and ensure a clean, welcoming environment
• Assist guests with menu questions and special requests when needed
• Handle payments at the host stand and process transactions accurately
• Train new hosts on procedures and company standards

What We're Looking For

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a genuine hospitality mindset
• Ability to remain calm and professional during peak dining hours
• Organizational skills to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
• Experience in food service, retail, or customer-facing roles (preferred)
• Proficiency with point-of-sale (POS) systems or willingness to learn quickly
