We're hiring a full-time Software Development Engineer in Test, Platform Safety Assurance in Foster City, San Mateo County to design and implement testing strategies that validate the safety and reliability of our autonomous robotaxi system before public deployment.
About the Role
As a Software Development Engineer in Test focused on Platform Safety Assurance, you'll play a critical role in ensuring our autonomous driving technology meets the highest safety standards. Your work will directly impact the construction of our safety case and the validation of fail-operational design across the platform, supporting Zoox's mission to deploy a trustworthy robotaxi solution in cities.
What You'll Do
- Design and develop comprehensive test frameworks for platform safety and fail-operational systems
- Create test strategies and automated test suites to validate safety-critical functionality
- Collaborate with the System Design and Mission Assurance team to support safety case construction
- Conduct verification and validation of autonomous driving system components
- Develop tools and methodologies to strengthen the platform's safety assurance program
- Analyze test results and identify gaps in safety coverage
What We're Looking For
- Strong software development and test automation expertise
- Experience designing and building test infrastructure
- Solid understanding of systems thinking and how platform-level changes affect system safety
- Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail in safety-critical contexts
- Ability to collaborate effectively across engineering teams
- Experience with autonomous systems, robotics, or safety-critical software is a plus
