About the Role

As a Special Education Teacher in a multicategorical self-contained setting, you'll design and deliver instruction tailored to students with a range of learning profiles and support requirements. Working under the direction of your school's principal, you'll create an inclusive learning environment that addresses both academic development and essential life and social-emotional skills.

What You'll Do

• Develop and teach lessons using the district's approved curriculum, adapting instruction to meet individualized education plan (IEP) goals
• Assess student progress regularly and maintain comprehensive documentation of academic and behavioral growth
• Foster independence and confidence in students across academic subjects, communication, self-care, and interpersonal interactions
• Collaborate with special education support staff, general education teachers, administrators, and families to support student success
• Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to educational planning that reflects each student's strengths and needs
• Maintain a structured, supportive classroom environment that promotes learning and positive behavior

What We're Looking For

• Valid South Carolina Special Education teaching certification (or eligibility to obtain)
• Experience working with students across multiple disability categories in a classroom setting
• Strong ability to differentiate instruction and create engaging, accessible learning experiences
• Excellent communication skills and commitment to partnering with families and colleagues
• Patience, creativity, and genuine enthusiasm for supporting students with diverse learning needs
