Critical Care – Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant

Hartford HealthCare Medical Group is seeking a dedicated Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Critical Care team at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Litchfield, Litchfield County, Connecticut. This part-time position offers the opportunity to make a direct impact on patient outcomes in a fast-paced critical care environment supported by one of the region's leading healthcare systems.

About the Role

As a Critical Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant, you will deliver comprehensive clinical care and expert decision-making in our intensive care settings. You will work alongside physicians, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary teams to evaluate, diagnose, and manage critically ill patients in a seven-day operating schedule. This role combines clinical autonomy with collaborative practice in a teaching hospital environment.

What You'll Do

• Conduct thorough patient assessments and provide direct clinical care for critically ill individuals
• Develop and execute patient treatment plans in collaboration with attending physicians
• Monitor hemodynamic status, organ function, and clinical progress with timely adjustments to care
• Perform clinical procedures and interventions within your scope of practice
• Communicate with patients, families, and care team members to ensure informed decision-making
• Maintain comprehensive and accurate clinical documentation
• Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, and evidence-based practice initiatives

What We're Looking For

• Current National Board Certification as an Adult Critical Care Nurse Practitioner, Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, or Physician Assistant
• Active Connecticut licensure or eligibility for licensure
• Demonstrated experience in critical care, acute care, or emergency medicine settings
• Strong clinical judgment and diagnostic reasoning skills
• Proficiency in collaborative, team-based care models
• Excellent written and interpersonal communication abilities
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and clinical excellence
