About the Role
As Director of Communications for 150 Forward, you'll guide the institution's public messaging, media relations, and internal communications. This leadership role reports to university administration and oversees the development and execution of comprehensive communications plans aligned with institutional priorities. You'll partner across departments to amplify the university's mission and achievements while building and maintaining a talented communications team.
What You'll Do
- Develop and implement university-wide communications strategy and messaging frameworks
- Manage media relations, press releases, and respond to media inquiries
- Oversee internal communications, including staff newsletters, announcements, and leadership updates
- Lead crisis communications and reputation management initiatives
- Direct the production of communications materials across digital, print, and multimedia channels
- Collaborate with campus departments to tell the university's story and highlight student and faculty achievements
- Manage communications budgets and vendor relationships
- Mentor and develop communications staff and contractors
What We're Looking For
- 10+ years of professional communications experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
- Proven track record developing and executing strategic communications plans
- Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills
- Experience with media relations and crisis communications
- Strong project management and team leadership capabilities
- Familiarity with digital communications platforms and multimedia content production
- Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or related field
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
