About the Role

Reporting to the Upper School Principal, you'll design and deliver differentiated instruction in Economics and Social Studies within a college-preparatory environment. This role combines subject expertise with pedagogical innovation, preparing students for both IB examinations and meaningful participation in global affairs.

What You'll Do

  • Plan and teach differentiated Economics and Social Studies courses for 9th and 10th grade students
  • Develop curriculum aligned with International Baccalaureate standards and frameworks
  • Create engaging lessons that connect economic theory and historical/social contexts to contemporary global issues
  • Assess student learning through formative and summative assessment methods
  • Collaborate with colleagues to support student growth in critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Participate in department planning and contribute to Upper School initiatives
  • Maintain open communication with students and families regarding progress and expectations

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Economics, Social Studies, History, International Relations, or related discipline
  • State teaching certification or equivalent qualification in secondary social studies or economics
  • Demonstrated ability to teach differentiated, student-centered lessons
  • Familiarity with International Baccalaureate curriculum and assessment practices (preferred)
  • Strong subject knowledge of economics, history, civics, or international studies
  • Ability to foster inclusive, collaborative classroom environments
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
