About the Role
As a Deputy Sheriff with the Brevard County Sheriff's Office, you'll be a frontline protector of our community. Working under general supervision, you'll apply considerable judgment and initiative in diverse situations, combining tactical decision-making with strong people skills to preserve life, prevent crime, and enforce both civil and criminal law across Titusville and the greater Brevard County area.
What You'll Do
- Conduct regular patrols and respond to emergency calls and community service requests
- Investigate criminal incidents, gather evidence, and document findings in compliance with all applicable laws
- Execute arrests and enforce local, state, and federal statutes
- Protect life and property, de-escalate conflicts, and maintain public order in assigned areas
- Prepare detailed incident reports and maintain accurate documentation
- Provide testimony in court proceedings and serve legal documents
- Work both independently and collaboratively with officers from other jurisdictions and agencies
- Participate in community policing initiatives and crime prevention programs
What We're Looking For
- Valid Florida Law Enforcement Certification or ability to obtain certification
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Ability to pass comprehensive background investigation, medical examination, and psychological evaluation
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Physical fitness and capability to perform essential job functions
- Genuine commitment to community-oriented policing and public service
- Flexibility to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
