Loyola University Maryland invites qualified professionals to join the Education faculty as an Assistant Professor of School Counseling. This full-time position offers the opportunity to shape the next generation of school counselors through teaching, mentorship, and scholarly engagement on our Baltimore campus, with an anticipated start date of August 24, 2026.
About the Role
As an Assistant Professor of School Counseling, you'll lead course instruction across the school counseling curriculum, guide students in developing professional competencies, and contribute to the advancement of counseling practice and education. This role combines classroom teaching with faculty responsibilities in advising, curriculum development, and service to the university community and the counseling profession.
What You'll Do
- Design and teach foundational and specialized courses in school counseling theory, practice, ethics, and evidence-based interventions
- Advise and mentor graduate and undergraduate students pursuing school counseling credentials
- Contribute to curriculum development and program evaluation within the Department of Education
- Engage in scholarly research or creative activities that advance school counseling practice and preparation
- Serve on departmental committees and participate in university service and professional associations
- Collaborate with school districts and community partners to enhance practicum, internship, and field placement experiences
What We're Looking For
- Master's degree in School Counseling, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, or a closely related counseling field
- Current school counseling licensure or certification, or immediate eligibility to obtain Maryland credentials
- Demonstrated professional experience in school counseling or related mental health settings
- Strong commitment to student-centered education, diversity, and cultural competence in counseling
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Professional integrity and commitment to counseling ethics and standards
