About the Role
As a School Security Officer with Elida Local School District, you'll be the first line of defense in safeguarding our facilities and the people within them. You'll work closely with school administrators, teachers, and local law enforcement to prevent security incidents, respond to emergencies, and enforce access control protocols. Your presence and vigilance help create the safe conditions students and staff need to thrive.
What You'll Do
- Monitor school buildings and grounds through patrols and surveillance
- Control and verify visitor access to facilities
- Respond promptly to security concerns and incidents
- Document security activities and incidents accurately
- Coordinate with administration and law enforcement as needed
- Support emergency procedures and evacuation drills
- Maintain professional, respectful interactions with students, staff, and families
- Report security observations and recommendations to school leadership
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or GED
- Prior experience in security, law enforcement, or related field (preferred)
- Strong knowledge of security procedures and best practices
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to remain calm and focused during emergencies
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the role
- Reliability, integrity, and dedication to student safety
