Project Manager I (Heavy Civil)

Join Granite Construction as a Project Manager I (Heavy Civil) in our Santa Rosa, Sonoma County office. We're looking for a detail-oriented construction professional to oversee heavy civil projects and contribute to our legacy of building critical infrastructure across the western United States.

About the Role

As a Project Manager I in our Heavy Civil division, you'll take on increasing responsibility for project execution, coordination, and delivery. This is an opportunity to grow your construction management expertise while working alongside experienced teams on meaningful infrastructure projects. You'll gain exposure to all phases of project delivery, from planning through closeout, and develop the strategic skills needed for advancement in construction management.

What You'll Do

• Coordinate daily field operations and ensure alignment between project plans and on-site execution
• Monitor project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation to keep work on track
• Communicate regularly with subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams to resolve issues and maintain productivity
• Track project metrics, maintain documentation, and prepare status reports for senior leadership
• Support safety protocols and help maintain Granite's strong safety culture on job sites
• Assist with project closeout activities, including final inspections and documentation

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent industry experience)
• Knowledge of heavy civil construction practices, equipment, and terminology
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction management software
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across teams
• Willingness to spend time in the field and on job sites
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel as needed
