About the Role
Amazon's fulfillment network runs on a foundational commitment to worker safety. As a WHS Specialist Intern, you'll be embedded within a fulfillment center safety team, gaining direct exposure to how one of the world's largest logistics operations protects its workforce. You'll contribute to real safety initiatives — not shadow work — alongside experienced WHS professionals who shape policy and practice at scale.
What You'll Do
- Support active workplace health and safety projects across fulfillment center operations in Mount Pleasant
- Participate in safety audits, floor walkthroughs, and hazard identification exercises
- Assist with OSHA compliance documentation, recordkeeping, and reporting processes
- Contribute to root cause analyses following near-miss events or incidents
- Help develop and deliver associate safety training materials
- Analyze WHS metrics and surface data-driven recommendations for continuous improvement
- Engage with WHS organizational learning initiatives designed to build safety culture across Amazon's network
- Collaborate with operations, HR, and engineering teams on ergonomics and process safety assessments
What We're Looking For
- Currently enrolled in an accredited degree program in Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health, Safety Engineering, or a closely related field
- Working knowledge of OSHA General Industry or Construction standards
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret safety data and communicate findings clearly
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced warehouse or fulfillment center environment — this is an on-site, physical workplace
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for cross-functional collaboration
- Detail-oriented with sound judgment when managing compliance-sensitive documentation
- Self-directed and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously under guidance
About Amazon

The company's WHS teams work across hundreds of sites to set industry standards for hazard prevention, ergonomic design, and associate wellbeing. Joining Amazon's WHS organization as an intern means contributing to programs with real operational impact from day one.
