Optimus is hiring a full-time Natural Gas Trader, Northeast to join our client's commercial energy team on-site in the Old Sixth Ward of Houston, taking ownership of trading strategy across one of the most dynamic gas markets in North America.
About the Role
As a senior Natural Gas Trader covering the Northeast, you will steer trading activity for a varied natural gas portfolio, shaping and executing strategies designed to extract maximum value. The position blends proprietary trading with asset-backed approaches, putting storage, transportation, and LNG positions to work while partnering closely with Commercial, Risk, and Operations teams to fuel profitable, sustainable growth. This is an on-site role based in Houston, Texas.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct trading operations across the Northeast natural gas market and manage portfolio performance end to end.
- Design and deploy trading strategies that optimize the value of a diverse gas portfolio.
- Combine asset-backed and proprietary trading, leveraging storage, transportation, and LNG assets.
- Identify, evaluate, and act on market opportunities to drive profitable growth.
- Work cross-functionally with Commercial, Risk, and Operations to align trading decisions with broader business goals.
Qualifications
- Proven, senior-level experience trading natural gas, ideally with exposure to the Northeast market.
- Strong command of asset-backed and proprietary trading approaches across storage, transportation, and LNG.
- Ability to build and execute portfolio strategies that balance opportunity against risk.
- Effective collaborator able to work across Commercial, Risk, and Operations functions.
- Willingness to work full-time, on-site in the Old Sixth Ward, Houston.
