Youth Peer Advocates Needed – Chemung County

AspireHopeNY is hiring full-time Youth Peer Advocates in Wellsburg, Chemung County, to walk alongside young people drawing on the strength of shared lived experience. If you're a young adult who has navigated real challenges and wants to help others find their footing, this role was built for you.

About the Role

As a Youth Peer Advocate with AspireHopeNY, you'll use your own personal journey to connect with, support, and empower youth facing difficult circumstances. Based in Wellsburg, Chemung County, this full-time, on-site position centers peer connection — meeting young people where they are and modeling that recovery, growth, and hope are possible.

Key Responsibilities

• Build trusting, supportive relationships with youth by sharing relevant aspects of your own lived experience.
• Offer encouragement and guidance to young people working through social, emotional, medical, developmental, substance use, or behavioral challenges.
• Help youth and families understand and navigate the systems and services available to them.
• Advocate for the voice, choices, and goals of the young people you serve.
• Collaborate with the wider AspireHopeNY care team to coordinate consistent, person-centered support.

Qualifications

• Between 18 and 30 years of age.
• Self-identify as someone with first-hand, personal experience of social, emotional, medical, developmental, substance use, and/or behavioral challenges as a young person — or who has received services within a child-serving system.
• Familiarity with one or more child-serving systems such as juvenile justice, foster care, special education, or addiction recovery.
• A genuine commitment to supporting and uplifting other young people.
• Willingness to work full-time, on-site in Wellsburg, Chemung County.
