About the Role
As the Head Varsity Boys Tennis Coach, you'll direct all aspects of the spring tennis program, from practice planning and match preparation to team strategy and athlete mentorship. This is a supplemental coaching position with compensation determined through negotiated agreement, offering the opportunity to build a competitive program while developing young athletes both on and off the court.
What You'll Do
- Design and execute daily practice sessions focused on skill development, conditioning, and tactical understanding
- Manage match schedules, opponent research, and in-match coaching decisions
- Develop individual athletes through personalized instruction and performance feedback
- Maintain team discipline, sportsmanship, and adherence to school athletic policies
- Track player progress and communicate regularly with athletes and families
- Collaborate with athletic directors and school administration on scheduling and logistics
- Foster a culture of hard work, resilience, and academic responsibility among team members
What We're Looking For
- Valid teacher license (preferred but not required)
- Current Pupil Activity Permit or ability to obtain one
- Demonstrated knowledge of tennis fundamentals, strategy, and training methods
- Proven ability to coach and motivate high school athletes
- Strong communication skills with students, families, and staff
- Commitment to athlete safety, wellbeing, and academic success
- Organizational skills and attention to program details
