About the Role
As a Survey Technician in a crew chief capacity, you'll be the on-site leader for all survey activities, managing crew personnel and ensuring the delivery of accurate, high-quality survey work. You'll combine technical expertise with leadership to coordinate complex surveying projects while maintaining strict quality standards and client satisfaction.
What You'll Do
- Supervise and coordinate survey crew members during field operations in the Phoenix area and beyond
- Operate and manage surveying equipment, including total stations, GPS units, and data collection systems
- Review survey data, field notes, and deliverables to verify accuracy and compliance with project specifications
- Communicate project requirements, timelines, and updates with team members, clients, and internal stakeholders
- Ensure all crew members follow safety protocols and adhere to applicable surveying standards and regulations
- Set up and break down survey sites efficiently and professionally
- Document field observations and coordinate data processing with the office team
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience as a surveyor, survey technician, or in a field surveying role
- Strong proficiency with modern surveying equipment and software
- Demonstrated ability to supervise personnel and manage field teams
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality and accuracy
- Clear communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across departments
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for the Phoenix, Maricopa County area
- Physical ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and on varied terrain
