Superintendent- Commercial Construction Projects (Hospitals)

System One is seeking a Superintendent‑ Commercial Construction Projects (Hospitals) to lead field operations for healthcare‑focused builds in Wilmington, New Hanover County.

About the Role

In this full‑time position, you will oversee daily construction activities on hospital projects, ensuring work progresses safely, on schedule, and to the highest quality standards.

What You'll Do

• Provide on‑site leadership and coordination for all trades and subcontractors.
• Manage project schedules, labor, equipment, and material deliveries.
• Conduct regular safety inspections and enforce OSHA and hospital‑specific regulations.
• Collaborate with project managers, architects, and owners to resolve field issues.
• Maintain accurate daily logs, progress reports, and change order documentation.
• Ensure compliance with infection control and other healthcare construction requirements.
• Coordinate temporary utilities, site access, and laydown areas with project stakeholders.
• Perform quality control checks, oversee punch‑list completion, and manage deficiency tracking.
• Facilitate weekly progress meetings with owners, designers, and trade partners.
• Maintain current as‑built drawings and ensure documentation reflects field changes.
• Assist with closeout documentation, warranties, and final commissioning activities.

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience as a superintendent on commercial construction, preferably healthcare or hospital projects.
• Strong knowledge of construction means, methods, and sequencing for complex builds.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and contract documents.
• Excellent communication skills and a track record of leading multidisciplinary teams.
• Valid OSHA 30‑hour certification or equivalent safety training.
• Willingness to work onsite in Wilmington, NC.
• Experience with hospital infection control protocols, including ICRA standards.
• Familiarity with healthcare facility codes such as FGI Guidelines and NFPA 99.
• Proficiency with construction scheduling software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project).
• Strong problem‑solving aptitude and ability to make timely decisions under pressure.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for site travel.

Compensation

The position offers a salary range of $105,000 to $115,000 annually.
