Special Education Teacher Aide

Racker is hiring a full-time Special Education Teacher Aide to join their team in Owego, Tioga County — supporting children with disabilities in a structured, inclusive learning environment dedicated to helping every student reach their potential.

About the Role

As a Special Education Teacher Aide at Racker, you will work directly alongside lead educators to provide individualized support to students with special needs. This is a full-time position embedded within an active, collaborative educational setting where the work you do each day has a direct, meaningful impact on children's growth and development.

What You'll Do

• Assist lead special education teachers in delivering instruction tailored to each student's individualized education plan (IEP)
• Provide one-on-one and small-group support to students with physical, cognitive, behavioral, or developmental disabilities
• Implement behavior support strategies and reinforce classroom routines to promote a safe, productive learning environment
• Assist students with daily living activities, mobility, and communication as needed
• Document student progress, observations, and incidents accurately and in a timely manner
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and families to support each child's educational and developmental goals
• Maintain a positive, encouraging presence that fosters student confidence and independence

What We're Looking For

• Genuine enthusiasm for working with children who have special needs
• Patience, empathy, and strong interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to follow structured instructional plans and adapt to the evolving needs of individual students
• Experience working with children in an educational, therapeutic, or caregiving setting is a plus
• Comfort with physical aspects of the role, including assisting with mobility and personal care
• Reliable, punctual, and committed to maintaining confidentiality and professional standards
• High school diploma or equivalent required; coursework or credentials in education or human services preferred
