Site/Civil Discipline Lead – Design Build (Water/Wastewater)

Join Jacobs' Water Infrastructure group as a Site/Civil Discipline Lead based in Wheaton, Montgomery County. You'll direct civil engineering teams managing complex, high-stakes water and wastewater projects delivered through design-build and alternative contracting models, serving municipal and industrial clients across the region.

About the Role

In this full-time position, you'll lead site-based civil engineering operations for active water infrastructure projects. Your responsibilities span technical oversight, field coordination, client interaction, and team leadership. You'll be the engineering voice on site—solving problems in real time, ensuring designs translate correctly to construction, and maintaining quality and schedule performance throughout project delivery.

What You'll Do

• Direct site civil engineering teams and coordinate field activities for water treatment, wastewater, and conveyance infrastructure projects
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and field staff
• Manage field inspections, testing, and quality assurance to verify compliance with design specifications
• Support design-build execution by coordinating between the design office and construction teams
• Interface with municipal and industrial clients to address technical inquiries and maintain stakeholder confidence
• Review submittals, shop drawings, and change requests for constructability and schedule feasibility
• Document site conditions, prepare engineering reports, and maintain comprehensive project records

What We're Looking For

• Professional Engineer (PE) license in civil engineering or closely related field
• 7 or more years of experience in site engineering, field engineering management, or similar roles on water infrastructure or heavy civil projects
• Demonstrated experience leading engineering teams in field-based environments
• Technical knowledge of water treatment plants, wastewater facilities, pumping stations, or conveyance systems
• Experience with design-build project delivery methods and workflows
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills across design, construction, and client organizations
• Willingness to travel to active construction sites as project demands require
