What You'll Do
- Perform acceptance, maintenance, and diagnostic tests on electromechanical, solid‑state, and microprocessor‑based relays.
- Commission new relay panels and integrate them into existing substation automation schemes.
- Troubleshoot relay malfunctions, analyze test data, and recommend corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate test records, update documentation, and ensure compliance with NERC, IEEE, and utility‑specific standards.
- Coordinate with substation crews, engineers, and project managers to schedule work and minimize service interruptions.
- Provide technical guidance to junior technicians and participate in safety briefings and tool‑box talks.
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience testing and maintaining protective relays in a utility or industrial setting.
- Strong understanding of relay protection principles, fault current calculations, and scheme logic.
- Proficiency with test sets such as Megger, Doble, Omicron, or equivalent equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret elementary and schematic diagrams, AC/DC control circuits, and relay logic.
- Familiarity with industry standards including NERC PRC, IEEE C37.90, and applicable utility specifications.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and a methodical approach to documenting test results.
- Commitment to safety practices and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to substation sites within the service area.
