About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential IT consulting firm in Frankfurt am Main seeking a Senior Network & Security Engineer / Security Architect. Our client works with organizations across telecommunications, logistics, media, and the public sector, delivering complex infrastructure projects and security solutions.

This is a permanent, full-time position based in Frankfurt am Main with hybrid working arrangements.

Responsibilities

• Plan, design, implement, and evolve complex network and security infrastructures for national and international locations
• Analyze existing network and security architectures and develop optimization and migration strategies
• Design and migrate firewall and perimeter infrastructures, particularly with Fortinet, Cisco, Palo Alto, and Juniper platforms
• Administer and develop LAN, WAN, and WLAN infrastructures
• Develop and implement firewall policies, security functions, and security standards
• Design and deploy security management and monitoring solutions including FortiManager and FortiAnalyzer
• Support the build-out, evolution, and operation of Security Operation Centers (SOC)
• Troubleshoot complex network and security issues, providing 3rd-level support and handling escalations
• Execute and support migrations and rollouts in complex, distributed IT environments
• Monitor network and security infrastructure to ensure availability, stability, and security
• Provide technical consultation on selection and introduction of new security and network technologies
• Conduct training and knowledge transfer sessions for technical teams and SOC staff
• Take on sub-project leadership responsibilities and coordinate technical work packages and teams
• Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders and technical departments

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

• Completed IT education or vocational training (e.g., IT Technical Assistant or comparable qualification)
• Several years of professional experience in networking, IT security, and network administration
• Deep expertise in planning, designing, and operating network and security infrastructures
• Excellent knowledge of Fortinet and Cisco technologies
• Experience with firewall architectures, firewall migrations, and security policies
• Hands-on experience with LAN, WAN, WLAN, routing, and switching
• Knowledge of network protocols and routing technologies such as OSPF and BFD
• Experience with 802.1X, SSO, proxy solutions, and security monitoring
• SOC environment experience and operational security infrastructure knowledge
• Troubleshooting and 3rd-level support capabilities
• Experience creating and implementing technical standards and architectural guidelines
• Cisco CCNP Routing & Switching certification (required)
• Ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly
• Willingness to take responsibility in demanding network and security projects
• German language proficiency required for this role

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Palo Alto, Juniper, and Aruba platforms
• Fortinet FCNSP certification
• Fortinet NSE 1, NSE 2, or NSE 7 certifications
