Honor is searching for a Senior Manager, Data Science to lead a team building machine learning systems and AI-powered analytics that solve operational challenges in aging care. This is a full-time, remote position.

About This Position

Lead data scientists and ML engineers developing production models and decision systems that optimize workforce scheduling, improve client-caregiver matching, strengthen capacity management, and enhance operational resilience. This role is distinctly technical leadership—your team's systems go live in a real operating environment and directly improve how Honor delivers care. You'll maintain hands-on involvement while building and developing your team across Product, Engineering, and Operations partnerships.

What You'll Do

  • Set strategic direction for the data science function, identifying where predictive modeling, optimization, forecasting, causal analysis, AI systems, and other quantitative approaches create the most value
  • Build and release machine learning models and decision systems that improve caregiver-client matching, scheduling, operational risk identification, and system reliability
  • Leverage modern AI, including AI agents and agentic workflows, to help teams make faster decisions and execute operational tasks more effectively
  • Partner closely with Product, Engineering, and Operations from problem definition through deployment, adoption, and iteration
  • Establish rigorous practices for model validation, performance monitoring, and accountable deployment of ML and AI systems
  • Coach and develop high-performing technical talent while remaining actively engaged in strategic technical work

What We're Looking For

  • 7+ years in data science, machine learning engineering, operations research, or AI research, including 3+ years managing technical teams
  • Demonstrated success building and shipping production ML systems or optimization models that improved business or customer outcomes
  • Judgment to assess whether a problem requires predictive models, optimization, testing, simulation, workflow redesign, an AI system, or no algorithmic solution
  • Conviction that production AI requires clear success metrics, data quality, thorough evaluation, sound design, and appropriate human oversight—not just model selection
  • Track record working with cross-functional leaders on ambiguous, multi-disciplinary problems across technical and operational domains
  • Ability to extract insight from messy operational data while maintaining rigorous measurement standards
  • Clear communication with technical teams, operations staff, and executive stakeholders
  • Action-oriented, iterative approach: you examine data, understand processes, prototype solutions, and refine your understanding based on evidence
  • Strong leadership: you articulate expectations, develop team members, prioritize work thoughtfully, and strengthen technical culture

Valuable background includes experience in marketplaces, logistics, workforce scheduling, healthcare, optimization algorithms, forecasting, recommendation systems, causal inference, AI systems, or responsible AI evaluation. We welcome advanced degrees in quantitative fields but prioritize your demonstrated capability, judgment, and track record of impact.
