The Opportunity

The Senior Major Gifts Officer is a high-level, frontline fundraising role responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major gift prospects and donors with a special focus on five- and six-figure or higher multi-year gifts to support the Jewish Federation’s Annual Campaign, special campaigns, new endowments, and additions to existing endowments. This position will play a critical role in driving fundraising success for the organization.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Identify, qualify, and cultivate major gift prospects through research, networking, and strategic planning.
• Solicit major gifts from high-net-worth individuals, foundations, and corporations to support various campaigns and endowments.
• Develop and maintain relationships with key donors and prospects through regular communication and personalized stewardship strategies.
• Prepare comprehensive proposals and reports for fundraising initiatives, ensuring all financial and donor information is accurate and up-to-date.
• Collaborate with the development team to ensure a cohesive approach to major gift solicitation and stewardship efforts.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in major gifts fundraising, preferably within a nonprofit or philanthropic organization.
• A strong understanding of the Jewish community and its values, with a passion for supporting communal initiatives.
• Exceptional relationship-building skills and the ability to establish trust with potential donors.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities, including the capacity to write compelling proposals and reports.
• Experience in managing multiple high-priority projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
