About This Position

Artemis Executive Recruitment Limited is currently seeking an experienced and commercially astute Senior Legal Counsel to join its legal team based in the Auckland CBD. The role offers a broad range of responsibilities that involve advising senior stakeholders on commercial, governance, regulatory, risk, and compliance matters. You will work closely with business leaders to navigate complex issues and provide clear, pragmatic advice.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic legal advice to senior management on a wide range of commercial, governance, regulatory, risk, and compliance matters.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across the organization.
  • Conduct due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, and other significant business transactions.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations to minimize legal risks.
  • Support the development of policies and procedures to enhance corporate governance practices.

Who We're Looking For

  • A qualified lawyer with at least 7 years of post-qualification experience in a similar role.
  • Strong commercial acumen and an ability to provide practical, business-focused legal advice.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively communicate complex issues to non-legal stakeholders.
  • A proactive approach with the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
