The Opportunity
We are seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to join our dynamic team at OSPRI in Thorndon, Wellington, New Zealand, New Zealand. As a key member of the legal and compliance department, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and implementing strategies that support our mission to strengthen and protect New Zealand’s livestock industries.
What You'll Do
- Provide strategic legal advice on complex issues related to livestock industries, including regulatory matters, contracts, and intellectual property.
- Develop and maintain policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Support the negotiation and drafting of agreements with various stakeholders, ensuring that all documents are legally sound and aligned with our business objectives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address legal challenges and opportunities in a proactive manner.
What You Bring
- A minimum of 7 years’ experience as a Legal Counsel, preferably within the agricultural or related industries.
- A strong understanding of New Zealand’s regulatory environment, particularly as it pertains to livestock and primary sector operations.
- Exemplary communication skills, both written and verbal, with an ability to convey complex legal concepts in a clear and concise manner.
- Experience in contract law, intellectual property, and dispute resolution is highly desirable.
