Senior Data Engineer

PortSwigger is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join our team at our Knutsford, England office on a full-time basis. You'll take ownership of designing, building, and maintaining the data infrastructure that powers our business intelligence and analytics capabilities.

About This Position

As a Senior Data Engineer, you'll architect scalable data pipelines and systems that enable data-driven decision-making across PortSwigger. You'll work with large datasets, implement robust ETL processes, and collaborate with analytics, engineering, and product teams to deliver reliable data solutions that support business growth.

Your Responsibilities

• Design, build, and optimise data pipelines and ETL systems that process data at scale
• Develop and maintain data warehouse schemas, ensuring data quality, accuracy, and accessibility
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into technical architecture
• Implement monitoring and alerting for data infrastructure to ensure high availability and performance
• Document data systems, processes, and best practices for team knowledge sharing
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical standards and code reviews

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Data Engineer or similar role, with strong proficiency in SQL and at least one modern programming language (Python, Java, Scala, or similar)
• Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts and experience with cloud data platforms (Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, or equivalent)
• Experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines using tools such as Apache Spark, dbt, or cloud-native services
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to optimise complex data queries and workflows
• Experience with version control, testing, and deployment automation
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively across teams
