The Opportunity

The 3K Observation Unit at Atrium Health Levine Children's Hospital is seeking a dedicated Psychiatric Technician to join our clinical team on the night shift. In this essential role, you'll work alongside physicians, nurses, and mental health specialists to provide direct patient support, behavioral monitoring, and therapeutic engagement in a specialized pediatric psychiatric care setting. Your presence and attentiveness will help create a safe, stable environment where children and adolescents can begin their path to recovery and emotional wellness.

Your Responsibilities

• Monitor and observe patient behavior, mood, and emotional state throughout assigned shifts
• Assist patients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, meals, and general comfort
• Maintain detailed, accurate documentation of patient observations and behavioral notes
• Support nursing staff with patient care activities and therapeutic interventions
• Respond promptly to patient needs and requests in a compassionate, professional manner
• Help maintain a safe, clean, and therapeutically supportive unit environment
• Communicate effectively with the clinical team about patient status and concerns

Who We're Looking For

• High school diploma or GED
• Current certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Psychiatric Certified Nursing Assistant (PCNA), Patient Care Technician (PCT), or equivalent as required by North Carolina and your facility
• Ability to communicate clearly and listen actively to patients and team members
• Physical capability to perform job duties, including standing, walking, and assisting patients safely
• Compassion, patience, and genuine interest in supporting pediatric mental health
• Reliability and strong work ethic, with the ability to thrive in a structured night-shift schedule
• Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to healthcare standards
