Psychiatric Technician – Atrium Health Cabarrus Emergency Department (ED) Psychiatric Observation Unit FT Nights

Atrium Health Cabarrus is seeking a dedicated Psychiatric Technician to support our Emergency Department Psychiatric Observation Unit during overnight shifts at our Concord, North Carolina facility. Role Overview

As a Psychiatric Technician on our night shift team, you'll provide direct patient care within a fast-paced emergency setting, supporting individuals in psychiatric crisis. Working full-time in the ED Psychiatric Observation Unit, you'll be instrumental in creating a safe, therapeutic environment while assisting clinical staff with patient monitoring, assessments, and interventions.

Your Responsibilities

• Monitor patients for behavioral and medical changes, reporting observations to nursing staff
• Assist with patient hygiene, comfort measures, and activities of daily living
• Support psychiatric assessments and observation protocols in compliance with facility standards
• Maintain a safe, secure unit environment; implement safety precautions as needed
• Document patient interactions and care activities accurately and timely
• Communicate effectively with multidisciplinary team members during shift handoffs
• Help orient and educate patients about the observation unit and treatment process

What We're Looking For

• Current Psychiatric Technician certification or equivalent credential (requirements vary by state)
• Experience in psychiatric, behavioral health, or emergency care settings preferred
• Strong ability to remain calm and empathetic under pressure
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Demonstrated commitment to patient safety and dignity
• Flexibility to work night shifts as a full-time commitment
• Willingness to work as part of a collaborative clinical team
