Principal Electrical Design Engineer, Gateways & Customer Hardware (Starlink)

SpaceX is hiring a Principal Electrical Design Engineer for Gateways & Customer Hardware to lead the electrical design of Starlink ground terminals and gateway systems in Bastrop, Texas.

About the Role

As Principal Electrical Design Engineer, Gateways & Customer Hardware for Starlink, you will drive the electrical architecture and design strategy for customer-facing hardware components that connect users to the global Starlink network. This is a leadership position where you'll set technical direction, mentor engineering teams, and solve complex design challenges at scale. Your work directly impacts the performance and reliability of Starlink's ground terminals and gateway infrastructure serving users worldwide.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical design and architecture for Starlink gateway and customer hardware products
• Drive technical strategy and establish design standards across hardware development teams
• Develop innovative solutions for satellite-to-ground communications hardware
• Oversee circuit design, power systems, RF and microwave components, and signal integrity
• Mentor electrical engineers and guide design reviews throughout product development cycles
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including mechanical, software, and thermal engineering
• Ensure designs meet performance, reliability, cost, and manufacturability requirements

What You Bring

• Extensive electrical engineering background with proven experience in principal-level design roles
• Deep expertise in analog and digital circuit design, power electronics, or RF and microwave engineering
• Demonstrated success designing hardware products at scale or in aerospace and satellite communications
• Strong background with high-reliability systems, electromagnetic compatibility, and signal integrity analysis
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills across engineering disciplines
• BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent hands-on experience
