About the Role

As Pre-Award Team Lead, you'll oversee and direct the activities of a professional team responsible for managing the university's pre-award proposal process. You'll serve as a strategic partner to faculty, researchers, and administrative departments, ensuring that all grant submissions and funding applications meet institutional requirements and funder guidelines. Your leadership will drive efficiency, compliance, and continuous improvement across our pre-award operations.

Your Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and supervise the pre-award team, fostering professional development and maintaining high performance standards
• Oversee all stages of proposal development, from initial concept review through final submission to funding agencies
• Ensure compliance with federal regulations, university policies, and funder-specific requirements on all proposals and grants
• Manage timelines, workflows, and procedures to meet proposal deadlines and institutional standards
• Coordinate with faculty, research centers, and other departments to identify funding opportunities and support proposal preparation
• Review proposals for completeness, accuracy, and adherence to guidelines before submission
• Develop and implement processes and training to improve team effectiveness and proposal quality

Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in administration, business, or related field (or equivalent professional experience)
• 5+ years of experience in grant administration, university administration, or pre-award management
• Proven leadership and supervisory experience managing professional teams
• Strong knowledge of federal grant regulations and funder requirements
• Excellent organizational, written, and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines
• Proficiency with grant management systems and database software
• Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and compliance
