Physical, Natural, and General Sciences Lecturer Pool 2026-2027

The College of Sciences at San Diego State University is recruiting part-time lecturers to teach Physical, Natural, and General Sciences courses during the 2026-2027 academic year. About the Role

SDSU's College of Sciences is building its instructor pool for upcoming semesters, seeking temporary part-time faculty with expertise in science disciplines. This role offers the flexibility of part-time teaching at a major research university while supporting our commitment to science education. As a lecturer, you'll work within our College's collaborative environment, teaching courses that serve majors and non-majors alike while helping students develop scientific literacy and disciplinary knowledge.

What You'll Do

• Teach courses in Physical Sciences, Natural Sciences, and General Sciences to undergraduate students
• Create engaging lesson plans and learning activities aligned with course objectives
• Assess student understanding through exams, projects, discussions, and practical work
• Grade assignments promptly and provide constructive feedback
• Hold regular office hours and mentor students individually
• Attend departmental meetings and coordinate with fellow faculty on curriculum matters

Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a science field; Master's degree in a science discipline preferred
• Substantive knowledge of Physical, Natural, or General Sciences subject matter
• Teaching experience at the post-secondary level or demonstrated readiness for college instruction
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
• Experience with diverse learners and commitment to inclusive teaching practices
• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues in a university setting
